Add a personal touch to your exchange student's room
Feel free to welcome your student into their new space with a decorated poster or a small gift to help make them feel at home!
Your student's room
During the exchange, your student’s bedroom will be their own comfortable, personal space. Your exchange student must have their own bed (not a sofa-bed, air mattress or futon), plus space for belongings and a quiet place to study, either in the room or elsewhere in the home. Your student may share a room, but only with one host sibling of the same gender (pre-approval is necessary if the sibling is under age 13).
"My host family knew that I love the ocean and was going to miss it while in South Dakota, so they got me a comforter that looked like ocean waves and put a cute little sea-shell frame on the table next to my bed. Now I have the ocean with me everyday!"
